One of the many programs we use to make our videos is iMovie. It's a very simple video editing program and has lots of features that can be used to make your video just the way you want it. Here are some of the basics of using iMovie:
When you first open up iMovie you should create a new event and a new project. The event just stores video clips that you can use in any of your projects. The project is your actual video that you edit and what becomes your final video.
An event will be created at the bottom left. Once opened, the event can hold video clips of what you want in your video. Just drag the video onto the words until a green + appears next to the courser.
If you want to import a picture, you must drag the picture onto the actual project.
The icons shown on the right can be used to add text, music, transitions, and other useful things. If you want to add any of these you can click one of the icons, choose which kind you want, then drag it onto your project.
When you add text, a blue bar will appear on top of part of your project. You can click on this whenever you want to change or delete the text. Once you click on it, a box that says "show fonts" will appear at the top left corner of the preview screen. If you click on that, a window will pop up that will allow you to change the font, font size, and font color.
When you add music, a bar will appear under your video clips. If you click on the icon on the top left of the bar, you can alter settings like volume and length of the music. You can also change the settings of your videos, if you click on the blue icon on the video clips. From there you can do things such as change the length of the clip, add video effects, and crop what part of the picture or video you want to be shown in the video.
To shorten or cut off pieces of a video clip, you have to click on the clip. A yellow outline should appear around it. You can then drag the sides of the yellow box until only the part of of the video you want deleted is outlined. Then click delete on your keyboard.
Once your video is finished you can click "share" then "export movie."
